It is the purpose of the Siouxland Regional Transportation Associations Long Range Transportation Plan to provide all citizens of the SRTPA Planning Area, the FHWA, FTA, and Iowa DOTwith the region multimodal and intermodal long-range transportation planning vision and initiatives for a minimum of twenty year period ending in the year 2035
Preparation of the LRTP consisted of compiling background information provided through the U.S. Census, U.S. DOT, Iowa DOT, and other named sources. The region was responsible for the preparation of this LRTP, with guidance given by local and county officials, the SRTPA Transportation Advisory Committee (TAC), Policy Board, and through citizen input.
The information in this plan represents a continuing planning process that will be reviewed and modified every five (5) years. The purpose of a LRTP is to serve as a guiding document of information on existing transportation related systems and to project future needs based on locally derived goals, and objectives to support growth in the region.
This LRTP is not a funding plan, but a framework for the selection of future transportation projects based on identifying areas of need and developing a means of addressing such while maintaining a “fiscal constraint,” a requirement of SAFETEA-LU. |
